In case you didn't know, 2nd Beaver Bank Group Committee has rebuilt the Harold
T. Barrett Fun Forest Camp - a new 2300 square foot year around camping facility
available for Scouting groups in the Halifax Region and surrounding area.
The lodge is situated on a wooded 20-acre lot, which is located within 1700
acres of wooded crown land. It sits on the shores of beautiful Beaver Bank Lake,
Beaver Bank, NS. To find the Harold T. Barrett Fun Forest Camp, simply take
the Beaver Bank Road exit off Highway #101. Follow Beaver Bank Rd approximately
9 km. The camp facility is located 2.5 km. in on a private logging road at 1901
Beaver Bank Rd. This road is kept gated and locked at all times. Keys can be
obtained from the Camp Managers.
The camp boasts sleeping accommodations for 22 youth (with ample floor space
for more), two separate leader's quarters for a total of eight leaders, plus
a sick bay with room for two. A well stocked kitchen with propane fridge and
stove, and a large eating area.
There is a large activity area. Inside and outside bathroom facilities are
available. The camp has wood and oil heat. Limited parking is available inside
the second gate. There is a turn-around located beside the lodge for drop off
and pick-up only.
NEW FOR THE FALL OF 2001
There are now two tenting sites available for the outdoor camper. The King
Site is equipped with several graveled tent pads providing room for 10 to 12
tents, as well as a large eating/cooking shelter.
The Natural Site has been left in its natural state with very little disturbed.
The lodge has also installed a wharf and cleaned up the swimming area as well.
Check out the camp layout for more information and photos of these recent changes.
